We said goodbye to Peter and Madelaine and caught the bus to Pak Tan Chun, the beginning of the Maclehose Trail.
Alex at the beginning of the Maclehose Trail, named after Crawford Murray Maclehose who was once governor of Hong Kong and responsible for establishing the country parks.
The trail passes east to west through the New Territories, north of Kowloon.
The East Dam of High Island reservoir.
We didn't make much progress today as after a short climb up from the reservoir we spotted the beautiful beach at Long Ke Wan and decided to stop for the afternoon.
The view from our tent. All the campsites in Hong Kong are pretty much the same. They're free, always have benches, bbq areas, toilets and a tap. All you need really.
We spent the afternoon swimming and relaxing at the beach. On returning to our tent we found a dog helping itself to our food supplies for the next 4 days. Everything was covered in slobber, there was an empty packet of super noodles and it had half a loaf of bread hanging from its mouth!
